I chose this picture because it looks dramatic and very touching  I like how the costumes are the waitress and a waiter I like the style of the train because it looks like it is old and it suits the Victorian era

Research (Pandora hearts)

I chose this anime because of its themes and that the clothing is Victorian.

The genres are the psychological thriller, gaslamp fantasy, drama, mystery.

The manga is written by Jun Mochizuki.

There is 1 season of the anime which is only in subtitles. 

Season 1 has 25 episodes.

I chose this picture because of the design of the Chained ( monster behind the person).  I mainly like the face of the Chained because it is creepy. The reason it is creepy is that the Chained has big black eyes, has nails in his head, a Joker style mouth and stitches.

I love this picture because of the Victorian clothing. I like the Victorian style trench coat  because of the  patterning on the colour.  I also like the giant-like bows and ties, I think this gives a more characteristic look to the characters. I also like the colour scheme on the girl, in particular the bright coloured coat.

I chose this picture because it is interesting and colourful.
What I like about the background is that it looks abandoned with the smashed picture frames and the flying rose petals. I also like the different coloured  roses and the Victorian style suits and chair.

I chose this pattern because it looks like the curse mark from Black Butler. I love the pattern inside the circle, I think I might consider using a circle pattern for my contract seal.

Research (Devils and realist)

The reason I have chosen this anime because it has some supernatural features inside.
The genres are supernatural, comedy,fantasy.

I chose this photo because it has a lot of people and a lot of colours. I like that each character is in a different pose, some of the characters have pointy ears and wings. The style of clothing  looks like it has been set in the Victorian era.

I chose this volume cover from the manga because I like the black silhouettes and the Victorian outfit.  I would consider using the  same kind of old style of lettering in  my final piece . I like the bright shade of the blues and how it is contrasted with the blonde of his hair. It also matches his eyes.

I like this picture because it looks like they're having a masquerade ball because of the masks and the fancy costumes. I also like the pale colours that have been used and that there are no dark colours. 

Research (Blue exorcist)

The reason I chose this theme is because I like the anime and it has a good style of demi-demons.

The genres are action, supernatural, and comedy. 

It was published by Viz Media.

At the moment, there are 16 manga books.

There are 1 anime season and ova.
There is 1 film.
There is a manga spin-off series called Salaryman Exorcist: The Sorrows of Yukio Okumura. So far there are 10 volumes of manga.

I like this because it is a good and funny supernatural anime.
So far I have watched up to episode 8. I like the demons and familiars.  I like the story that Rin is the son of Satan, he is a twin and he always gets into trouble.

I chose this picture because you get to see I Okumura in his demon form. I will use this as had an influence on my idea.  I like this image because it is a fan art piece, I think this might have been created using Photoshop .

I chose this image because it is cool and funny because  Rin has his familiar with him on top of his head and alsobecause you can see  his tail and Rin is in his school uniform. 

Research (Black Butler)

 Yana Toboso, artist and story writer

The Black Butler artist and writer is Yana Toboso. She was born on January 24th, 1984 in Warabi, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. She is a Japanese Manga artist, her works are Rust Blaster and Black Butler.

The Genre are Historical fiction, Black comedy, Dark fantasy, Psychological thriller The manga and anime are called Black Butler and the Japanese name is Kuroshitsuji.
The manga/anime is about Ceil Phantomhive which is about a 13-year-old boy who is the head of the Phantomhive family. They are a well-known family known as 'the queen's watchdog' and they have the task of solving mysteries and crimes in the London underworld. Ceil has made contract with a demon in exchange for his soul. There are 21 books, 109 chapters and 3 seasons of the anime but only 2 seasons are dubbed into the English language and 3 seasons are in subtitles. The publisher is Yen press.

There are 3 seasons of anime.  The anime is called Black Butler the second  season is called Black Butler II the II means  2 in roman numerals and the season 3 is called Kuroshitsuji: Book of Circus and there is one OVA called Kuroshitsuji: Book of Murder this OVA is in 2 parts because each episode is an hour long.

In my opinion, I love this anime and the whole theme. the Victorian style clothing and how it is set in the very dark Victorian era. I like the bonds between master and servant, that are in the anime and the comedy parts of it.

I chose this picture because it shows grace and beauty. I  like the style of Victorian clothes like the tailcoat and how it has a feminine touch to it. I also like how the clothing all matches on Ciel Phantomhive.

I chose this picture because it is a poster for Black Butler season two. I like that everyone is wearing black and you can see Ciel's and Sebastian's demon eye's.   I  like how you have the  purple rose petals flying around the background and  around them.

I chose this picture because  it to Black Butler: Book of Circus.I chose it because of the circus style clothing and I like that the clothes show the dark gothic style to the circus. I also like how Yana Taboso has put a corset on Snake and made him more female like.

I chose this picture for the same reason as the above picture. I like this picture because Yana Toboso has made the undertaker look like a girl by adding high heels and a corset and braided his hair. I also like Vincent's long coat

I chose this photograph because you see all the demon seal in the anime at one time I also chose this for reference for when I am drawing my own demon seal.
At the top you have Sebastian's demon seal, in the middle you have Claude's demon seal and at the bottom, you have Hannah's demon seal.

This research has influenced my idea  because my idea is based of the story and the characters.

My chosen idea is to make a character design  sheet and  a graphics poster of my character.
I chose this because I enjoyed doing this in one of my previous units.

Research (No game no life)

The reason I chose this anime is because of the half human, half creature and because I enjoyed watching the anime as the story line is fascinating.  

The genres are an adventure, comedy, and fantasy. 

No Game No Life is written by Yu Kamiya.

The publisher is Yen Press.

There are so far 8 volumes of light novels. 

There is so far 1 manga book. 

The publisher of the manga book is Seven Seas Entertainment.
There is 1 anime season of 12 episodes at the moment, there will be another one coming out soon but the date still has to be confirmed. 

The studio that made no game life is Madhouse. 

At the moment, I am still watching No Game No Life. I have only watched 11 episodes because I can not face watching the 12th episode. this is because I don't want to be left in suspense because the story has not finished yet.

What I like about the anime is that there are 12 different races and each race has 1 chess piece to battle god.
I also like the different character designs and I like how the story revolves around games, not violence, if you have any quarrels you have to sort it out by the games and if you place bets you have to place a bet of equal value or higher. Personally I like the Fluge because they have wings and they can fly.

This is Jibril, she is a Fluge. I chose this picture because it is the first encounter of a Fluge  in the anime and I chose it because it shows her detail. I like that Fluges are unique because their wings are on the lower back not upper back like angels.

Proposal

What theme you have chosen and why?
I have chosen the theme  under graphics called character design. I chose this because I really enjoyed doing this in one of my projects and the theme for my character design will be set in the Victorian era.

What mediums will you be using to create your work?
The mediums that I will use will be pen and pencil  for my sketches and I will use Photoshop to bring life to these images.

Describe how you want your work to look.
My work will be a character design of a demon in a human form, with different heads showing emotions and the clothing will be Victorian circus era clothing.  I will also create a demon seal and after I have created my character design sheets I will create my character in a different pose for a graphics art piece. The style I will use will be animation and  this all will be done in Photoshop and Illustrator .

The images and anime that has inspired me are from Kuroshitsuji meaning Black Butler because I like the Victorian style clothing and the demonic side of things  and I like the mystery side of the anime where he is a detective for the queen  I am inspired by Black Butler: Book of Circus because of the dark circus theme to it and the bright circus clothing. 

Describe what initial research, pre-production work, and audience research you will    undertake while completing this project.
 My initial research will be looking at different anime and studying their characters, costumes and clothing,  this will help me get more of an understanding of Victorian clothing  and I will research what is Anime and Manga is. I might create a Victorian style circus  character demon I will research different sub-themes .  I will also research demonic anime characters to see what details and attributes I could consider using for my character design.  My primary research will be making a survey asking people the questions that I need, going out to shops and looking at Victorian style clothing and props. The audience for this work will be people who watch anime.

Describe how you will present your final piece/pieces.
My work will be presented on an A3 if not  bigger sized black mounting board because I think black will go together with my Victorian theme and the demonic side of it. I am also  going to mount my proposal and my character design sheet and the graphics poster because it will look nice to see the development.  I will mount each of the 3 pieces of work onto a piece of old vintage like paper which I will stain with tea and coffee to get the vintage effect.

Research (Spirited away)

The reason I chose to research this film is because of the genre, the style of characters and the outfits. 

The genres are action, fantasy and mystery. 

The film is directed and written by  Hayao Miyazaki. 

The production is Studio Ghibli.

The music of the film was by Joe Hisaishi.

The film was released on the 20 July 2001.

In my opinion, I think this is one of Hayao Miyazaki's  best films. I like the story because it is about a little girl called Chihiro Ogino moving to a new home with her mother and father. But something bad happens to them while they're on their travels and Chiro has to save them. I like this film due to the characters and the spirits.

I like this picture because it is Chihiro and Haku in his true form as a water dragon. I  like how Chihiro's emotions  are sad and nervous and I love the style of the water dragon because it is in a traditional dragon style. I like the colour scheme of the dragon.

Research (Bleach)

The reason I chose Bleach is because of the demonic side of things. 

The themes are action,adventure,fantasy.

There are 71 volumes of manga so far and there are 4 bonus books and 2 Light novels.

There are 16 seasons of the anime which are in dubbed and subbed.  

There are also 4 films which are in dubbed and subbed.

There are so many games here is a small fraction of them Bleach: Blade Battlers, Bleach Ds, Bleach: Heat the Soul and Bleach: Soul Carnival.

In my opinion, I think Bleach is a good anime series but it is bad that it had to be cancelled.

I like the style of the demons called Hollows because of the unique shapes and  that you can find different types of them. I like the style of Zanpakuto because they have 2 for; Shikai and Bankai. zanpakuto means sword or katana.  Each Zanpakuto has its own unique shape, form and abilities. I also like that humans can't see them except in special events such as if they have too much spirit power or if they have been touched by someone who has a massive amount of spirit power, in that case, they can gain abilities from that person.

The characters in this picture that I know are Uryū Ishida, Renji Abarai, Tōshirō Hitsugaya, Rukia Kuchiki, Ichigo Kurosaki and Rangiku Matsumoto.
I chose this image because it is has a lot going on in the picture such as how their postures are different. I like the bright colours of Rangiku's blond hair, Toshiro's white hair, Renji's red hair and Ichigo's ginger hair. I like that Uryu's clothes are white and the others are black. I love that some of them are wearing traditional Chinese clothing.

This is a picture of Ulquiorra Cifer in his true Hollowfication. I chose this picture because it is very demon like and I think I might consider using a similar style for my character design sheet. I like the wings style and the sharp nails on his feet. This form kind of reminds me of a bat.

This is  Ichigo's final Getsuga Tenshou form. I chose this because it looks interesting, I like the way he has bandages covering him and his face I also like that he has long black hair in this form.  

Research (Noragami)

 I chose this Anime because I love it: its characters and the supernatural side of things.

The themes in this anime are supernatural, action, and comedy. 

Noragami is written by Adachitoka.

There are 16 manga volumes and 1 special volume.

There are 2 seasons of anime and 2 OVAs all are in subbed and dubbed, there is an original animation that is only 2 episodes.

What I like about Noragami is the supernatural side of things where only Gods and Shinki can see evil spirits and good ones. Shinki are items that gods use for various task and purposes. They are also called Sacred Treasures, Sacred Weapons, Regalias, and Sacred Tools in English and Shinki is made from the loose spirit of a dead human. I also like the style of the evil spirits where you can get big ones and small ones.

Here you have Yato, Hiyouri, and Yukine. I like this image because it has nice scenery, the characters have nice modern clothing on them.  The clothing that mainly stands out is the jogging suit on Yato because of the dark colour and the clothes have good colour schemes.

The reason I chose this image is because it is bright and colourful and has a lot going on.
Here you have Yato, Hiyouri and Yukine and small and big spirits. I like how it has a birds eye view and that you can see all the yen falling from the sky.

Research (Tokyo ghoul)

I chose to research Tokyo Ghoul because of the theme and the good story.
The theme is Dark Fantasy.
Tokyo Ghoul is written by Sui Ishida and published by Viz Media.
There are 14 volumes so far of the manga , a manga called Tokyo Ghoul JACK , Tokyo Ghoul:re which has so far 6 volumes and there is a Light novel of 3 books.
There are two seasons of the anime and 2 ova's
The animes are called Tokyo Ghoul and Tokyo Ghoul√A and the OVAs are called Tokyo Ghoul JACK and Tokyo Ghoul PINTO .
There are only two video games at the moment called Tokyo Ghoul: Carnaval
Tokyo Ghoul: Jail.

I have watched all the anime at the moment and the story is about an alternate reality where these things called Ghouls exists, Ghouls are cannibals with unique powers called Kagune,  A Kagune can manifest into four forms known as Ukaku, Rinkaku, Koukaku, and Bikaku and Ghouls are a lot stronger than humans and have regenerative powers, also when they get excited their eyes turn black and the iris turns red.

This image is a diagram of the Kagune. It shows where the different kagunes are and the names of the four different type of Kagune.

I think the anime series is good, I really enjoyed it and I like the character development and the story has a lot of interesting points like how Gouls and humans can not exist together and how the Ghouls can never be accepted into the human category.

I like Hatsune's kagune because of the colors and shapes of it  I also like the detail on the kagune where it looks like muscle tissue.
